Trailhead Holdings: Who We Are, What We Build, and Who We Work With

Trailhead Holdings Ltd is a UK founder-led company running Trailhead Commercial, Trailhead Studio and Trailhead Labs. Who we are and how to reach us.

Trailhead Holdings Ltd is a UK-registered, founder-led holding company with three lines of work: Trailhead Commercial, a consultancy for brands trying to win distribution in difficult markets; Trailhead Studio, which builds bespoke software for businesses that have outgrown their tools; and Trailhead Labs, the software products we own and run ourselves. We operate primarily in next generation products (NGP), FMCG and adjacent regulated categories, the sectors where getting a product onto a shelf involves more than a good pitch deck. If you found us through Companies House, a supplier list or a conversation with someone in the trade, this page tells you what the business actually does and how to reach us. For the person behind it, see About Rob Harvey.

Which Trailhead you're looking for

"Trailhead" is a common name. Search it and you will find several organisations that have nothing to do with us, mostly registered in the United States. To save you the time:

The simplest test: Trailhead Holdings Ltd is incorporated in the United Kingdom and appears on the UK register. Anything filed with a US state authority is a different organisation.

The company on public record

Trailhead Holdings Ltd is a limited company registered in the UK. Rather than reprint details that change between filings, we would rather you check the primary source. Company number, registered office address, incorporation date, directorship and full filing history are all publicly available and free to view on the Companies House register.

We think that matters. Plenty of consultancies operate as a personal brand with a website and no verifiable entity behind them. If you are considering handing over commercial strategy, distributor relationships or customer data, you should be able to confirm who you are actually contracting with before the first call, not after the first invoice.

The company is director-run. There is no anonymous management layer, no offshore parent, and no separate trading name doing something different from what this page describes.

The origin: thirteen years selling in hard markets

Trailhead Holdings exists because of thirteen years spent selling in categories where nothing is easy.

Restricted categories are a particular kind of school. Advertising options are limited or closed. Retail listings are contested by better-funded incumbents. Compliance sits on top of every claim, every piece of packaging and every promotional mechanic. Buyers have seen forty versions of your pitch this quarter. You cannot buy your way to attention, so you have to earn distribution through commercial competence: knowing the route to market, knowing what the distributor's economics look like, knowing what the buyer needs to justify the listing internally, and executing follow-through that most brands never manage.

Thirteen years of that, across field sales, national accounts and distributor management, produced a consistent observation. The bottleneck was almost never the product. It was the commercial process around it. Pricing held in a spreadsheet on someone's laptop. Orders taken over WhatsApp. Stock positions known only by the person who happened to visit last week. Pipeline that existed in someone's head and vanished when they left. Businesses turning over serious money and running on institutional memory.

At some point, advising people to fix that stops being enough. You either build the thing that fixes it or you keep watching the same failure repeat. That is where the software side of Trailhead Holdings came from.

Trailhead Commercial: what the consulting side does

The consultancy addresses two problems, and they are usually the same problem at different stages.

Problem one: you have a brand and you need distribution in a market you aren't winning in yet. You have a product that works, some early listings, maybe a strong home market, and no reliable way into the next one. The work here covers route-to-market strategy, distributor identification and engagement, buyer approach and negotiation support, pricing and margin architecture across the chain, and the trade story that makes a listing decision defensible for the person signing it off.

Problem two: you are already selling, and your commercial process is the thing capping your growth. The revenue exists but the machinery is manual. Here the work is commercial process design, sales team structure and territory logic, CRM and pipeline discipline that people will actually use, reporting that tells you something, and the operating rhythm to keep it running once we leave.

Engagements take three broad shapes. Project work with a defined scope and end point, usually a market entry or a process rebuild. Retained work where we are embedded in the commercial function over a longer period. Advisory, which is lighter touch: regular sessions with a founder or commercial lead who needs a sounding board with operating scars rather than a full delivery team.

We do not publish rates, because scope varies enormously and a headline number would mislead you. We scope, price and confirm before any work starts, and you will know the number before you commit to anything. The services and the track record behind them are on the Trailhead Commercial page.

The software side: Studio and Labs

The software work runs as two separate tracks.

Trailhead Studio

Trailhead Studio builds bespoke software for businesses that have outgrown spreadsheets, WhatsApp and someone's memory. That means internal tools, client portals and operational dashboards, offline-capable field apps for teams working without signal, and full product builds taken from idea through to billing customers. The person who scopes the build is the person who writes it, nothing is sent offshore, and on bespoke builds you own the code outright. Every project starts with a written scope and a fixed price. There is more on the Trailhead Studio page.

Trailhead Labs

Trailhead Labs is the portfolio of products we own and run ourselves, which means we also carry the support, the billing and the uptime.

  • Engineer OS: job management for UK field service teams, from £15 per engineer a month. Live, with paying customers.
  • MVP Cricket: club management for grassroots cricket, with Play-Cricket sync and automated MVP scoring. The leaderboard is free; paid plans start at £9.99 a month. Live, with paying customers.
  • MVP Predictor: white-label football prediction competitions for clubs. In build.

The full portfolio is on the Trailhead Labs page.

How the pieces fit together

Commercial and Studio are separate businesses with separate buyers. A brand owner looking for distribution and an operations director looking for software are different people with different problems, and neither line of work is a route into selling the other.

What they share is the operator and the experience. Thirteen years inside commercial functions shows you which problems are genuinely painful and genuinely repeated, and how quickly a tool gets abandoned when it was designed in a room away from the people who have to use it. That shapes how every piece of Studio and Labs software gets built.

Occasionally the two meet. A consulting client needs an internal tool the market does not sell, and when that happens Studio can build it. A strategy document decays within two quarters; a tool the team uses every day does not.

Who we work with, and who we don't

We work well with founder-led brands that have a product in market and are trying to expand distribution. Challenger FMCG businesses fighting for shelf space against larger incumbents. NGP and adjacent regulated categories, where compliance and restricted marketing are part of the daily problem rather than an afterthought. And established businesses at the point where manual process, rather than demand, is what is capping growth.

We are a poor fit for pre-product ideas with no route to revenue, no defined customer and no funding to reach either. We are a poor fit for businesses looking for a name to put on a pitch deck rather than work to be done. And we are a poor fit where the real requirement is cheap headcount rather than commercial judgement.

Saying that plainly saves everyone a fortnight. If you read that list and recognised yourself in the wrong half, we would rather you know now.

How to get in touch

Send an enquiry through the contact page. To get a useful reply first time, include four things: what you sell, where you currently sell it, the commercial problem you are trying to solve, and your timeline.

What happens next is a short qualifying call, usually within a few working days. If it is a fit, we scope the work and come back with a defined proposal and a price. If it is not, we will say so on that call and point you somewhere more suitable where we can.

If you want to sample how we think before speaking to anyone, read the blog. It is written from the same operating experience described on this page, and it will tell you fairly quickly whether our approach matches how you want to run your business.

FAQ

Is Trailhead Holdings the same company as Trailhead Capital or The Trailhead Group? No. Trailhead Holdings Ltd is a UK-registered company. Trailhead Capital is a US regenerative agriculture investment firm, and other organisations trading under the Trailhead name in the United States are separate legal entities. There is no shared ownership, management or operational connection between us and any of them.

Where is Trailhead Holdings based and is it a registered UK company? Yes. Trailhead Holdings Ltd is a limited company registered in the United Kingdom. You can verify the company number, registered office address, incorporation date and full filing history free of charge on the Companies House register.

Who founded and runs Trailhead Holdings? The business is founder-led and director-run, built by an operator with thirteen years of commercial experience across field sales, national accounts and distributor management in restricted and heavily regulated categories. It is run by Rob Harvey; his background and track record are on the About page. Current directorship is listed on the Companies House public register linked above.

What is the difference between Trailhead Commercial, Studio and Labs? Trailhead Commercial is the consultancy: market entry, route to market, pricing and interim commercial leadership for NGP and FMCG brands. Trailhead Studio builds bespoke software for other businesses. Trailhead Labs is the products we own and run ourselves, such as Engineer OS and MVP Cricket. All three sit under Trailhead Holdings Ltd and are run by the same person.

Does Trailhead Holdings work with early-stage brands or only established ones? Both, with one condition. There needs to be a product in market or ready for market, and a plausible route to revenue. We have worked with brands at their first listing and with businesses several million in turnover whose processes have not kept pace. What does not work is a concept with no product, no customer and no funding.

How do I contact Trailhead Holdings about a project? Use the enquiry route on this website and include what you sell, where you sell it, the problem you want solved and your timeline. Expect a short qualifying call within a few working days, followed either by a scoped proposal with a price or an honest explanation of why we are not the right fit.
